Backdraft Restaurant and bar is located in the heart of northeast Pennsylvania. As you walk into this establishment, you can tell that there is respect for those who are serving or have served in the military. It also shows appreciation for those who have worked long hours within the fire and rescue community. The restaurant has a newly designed dining room area for non-smokers which is clubbed in so that family or friends can eat in private. It also has an area for people to hang out, dance, and listen to live music. The bar offers a number of drinks to pick from including a fine selection of wines. The food was great and prices were reasonable. There is a variety of live performers which play at this bar on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Thursday is more of a chill night with acoustic artists who play on occasion. Friday and Saturday is when the rocking out, heavy hitter bands come out and play a set including Kartune, Joker, Nowhere Slow, and many others. The sound system setup is very nice with correct PA placement for the best overall sound quality to the audience. Overall, the experience at Backdraft was positive. The music was great and the staff was always friendly and deserved to be treated with respect. The community was also friendly. People are quick to judge others without getting to know them and I believe that can cause people to shy away from others easily. However these people should realize that when its all said and done, its the heart that matters most. Backdraft has heart.

The waitress is really nice. However the wings we got were cold. The OMFG burger is very dry and the cheese was processed. I ordered the burger medium and it was well done and pretty dry. My wife ordered a deep dish pizza and it had a hair in it. Further, the deep dish pizza was nothing like a deep dish pizza. Obviously who ever makes the pizza has never googled what a deep dish pizza is. I would not go back.

There are some other bars that are not to the standards of the Backdraft. Tammi and dennis are by far the best bartenders I have ever met. Even on their busy nights they are very attentive and never leave ya hanging. Great service and food. The food is very good, from the Pizza to which my favorite is the southwestern chicken spring rolls are top notch. Between the great food and the live entertainment makes this bar 5 star. If your ever in the area come on down and have a great experience, come on down and enjoy the outdoor deck with this great fire pit...

NOT GOOD FOR FAMILIES! If you have children steer clear of this place. They won't want your business anyway. If you walk in with kids expect to be ignored and treated poorly. I went with my family and asked if we could sit outside. The hostess was in a mood and then says, "I don't know, you can go check". The outside seating is clearly for the bar scene patrons. When I returned from checking she was gone. We waited 10 minutes for her to return and then she was annoyed that she had to push tables together on the inside for us. I offered to help her since it seemed like such an imposition. We were finally seated- and then completely ignored! After another 15 of no one coming over to us to even take a drink order, I took the hint and left with my family. We drove a few miles up the road and got pizza at Rolly's instead. They, by the way, are wonderful to families and their pizza was awesome.

Completely changed. Built a large outdoor deck with bar, tv's, and fire pit. No more smoking inside! Menu completely updated and service was fantastic. With the changes it has become my new favorite place when at the Hideout

Outdoor seating is nice. Food tastes good, but is horribly presented (e.g. BBQ shrimp looks like a pile of leftovers in a strange brown sauce). The real problem is the service.... I'm sitting here at the table for the past fifteen minutes waiting for the waitress to pick up the check. Every drink order took a minimum of thirty minutes, food even longer (if it came out right at all). I won't come back.

DO NOT GO!!! This place was absolutely DISGUSTING!!! The food was awful and the people were even worse.. Complete trailer park trash crowds that played rap music and cursed around my children!

I don't understand the negative comments but maybe because we just started going here in the last few months. Great thin crust pizza compared to any place I've found in the area. Will try a couple places mentioned in other posts just to compare but we'll still come back. The prime rib sandwich is amazing. The prices are ridiculously cheap for what you get in my opinion. The prime rib sandwich was like $8 with two sides. One waiter in particular remembers us and treats us like old friends. Patrons cut up with us over a game - felt right at home. Always sit in the bar to catch the games.

Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: Backdraft advertises itself as a sports bar; once you walk inside you realize that is true. This is a large establishment portioned into roughly three sections. One section houses the pizza counter and ovens, another is where diners sit in for regular food, and that leaves the last section for the sports bar area. The decor suits PA well, quite a bit of wood on display, but not bad considering there isn't much to do in this part of the Poconos as far as night life. Noise/sound level: I went during dinner time and while it wasn't packed there were enough patrons eating providing an average noise level. At least it wasn't a ghost town; that might indicate a problem. Menu: On the verge of being too big. There is more than one menu to look at; ask for the drink menu because you might not get it. There is a regular bar style menu with interesting takes on usual bar food with some unique offerings, and there is a BBQ menu. Backdraft claims to smoke their own meats on the premise; you can smell the BBQ in the background so I take that to be true. Lastly, there is a craft beer menu, which is terrific considering the location of this place. Service: There are plenty warm, knowledgeable, friendly, and inviting staff on hand to assist with anything you need. Ticket times were pretty good, but we went during a time it wasn't very busy. Food: Typical bar food, but done fresh or fresher than usual. I had pulled pork sliders, but they were more like pulled pork crustinis. Nonetheless, the meat was juicy, smoky, sauced well, and topped with tasty cole slaw. I also had chili cheese bacon fries which were pretty tasty as well, even more so the next day. My other guests had pizza and pulled pork, which they said were tasty too. Bar: Full. I absolutely love the craft beer menu. They also rotate seasonal beers and will discount prices for beer they want to move to make room for new stock. Backdraft also sells packaged goods too, which I think is great if you want a quick sixer for when you're chillin' on your deck or roastin mellows. Price: Low to moderate. The items are priced competitively and the craft beer is pretty cheap. Many good brands run about $3.50 and the discounted ones might go for as low as $2.00. Overall: Pretty good food, decent on the eyes, and ridiculously cheap alcohol causes Backdraft to be a place I'd like to revisit often. We spend quite a few weekends in the Poconos each year so I'm sure this could be our new favorite hang out.

You would think that outside the Hideout there would be a better bar than Backdraft. This is a disgusting smoke filled bar. On numerous occassions I have heard staff make negative comments about New Yorkers. If you are in the area you might as well stay in the Hideout or go to Trios.

We were at the HideOut for a week in June and ended up at Backdraft on 3 different nights. The cheesesteak pizza is awesome (probably the best i've ever had). In addition, we tried the wings, ribs, and a bunch of other appetizers. All very good. My father-in-law (grumpy and tough to please) loved the prime rib sandwich....The other highlight was Brian, our server, who was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience all 3 nights.

I prefer to eat at local establishments when I travel, plus being a fireman, how could I not stop here. The place was slow when we went (Sunday afternoon), but the staff were very friendly, and the waitress was very attentive. The baby back ribs were delicious and the sweet potato fries are out of this world. Also, the chocolate chip cheesecake was yummy. Great place to stop in and grab a bite and/or a drink.

We were here with our family on a Saturday night. Had to wait 90 minutes for dinner. There was no one else in restaurant when we got there, and my fiance had to complain in order to get our food, because it had filled up, and we were served after everyone else. Figuring this was a one-time situation, the two of us stopped by for dinner and drinks two nights later. The waitress was incredibly rude, acting like she was doing us a favor by getting our drinks. The straw that broke the camel's back appeared to be when we asked if we could order food. She spent most of the night texting, with hardly a look in our direction. Terrible experience.

Ordered here once. The delivery was pretty quick and the delivery guy was very nice. He even unpacked all the food and laid it out on the table. Unfortunately, that's where it ends....the food was borderline inedible. We are not repeat customers.

I seldom go to pizzerias outside of NYC/LI because very often, the pizza just isn't good anywhere else. This place proves that theory wrong! I was very surprised at how delicious the slices were: cheesy, saucy, perfectly crisp crust edges but pleasantly doughy on the inside. The guys behind the counter are courteous and accommodating; I was even given an extra drink-- free of charge. I even took a slice home with me. I haven't been to the bar or gotten any of the menu items, but next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to check it out.

Food is amazing despite the waitstaff being non existent! Stopped in here to see a live band, A.M. Radio! They killed it! a great dive bar! Loved it! Drinks are cheap. The crowd is casual and blue collar. A fun place to let loose!
